Homemade Playdough

August 12, 2008

Yes, I have made homemade playdough.  It’s actually quite easy to make and makes ALOT!!!!!!!!!!  This is good, especially with soon-to-be three children under the age of five.  Playdough in our house dries out QUICKLY!  Here’s a recipe for homemade playdough:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • food coloring

Mix all ingredients, adding food coloring last. Stir over medium heat until smooth. Remove from pan and knead until blended smooth. Place in plastic bag or airtight container when cooled.

OR, FOR YOU MOMS WHO JUST CAN’T STAND THE THOUGHT OF YOUR CHILD EATING TRADITIONAL PLAYDOUGH…

Peanut Butter Playdough:

  • 1 1/2 c. peanut butter
  • 3/4 c. powdered milk
  • 3 tbsp. honey

Mix it all together, form into shapes, or eat.
