Before and After

October 21, 2010

Continuing on with our Disney pics, today’s is from our “Meet the Princesses” opportunity.  It was magical for Ashlyn, but totally brief and totally hurried.  Cinderella is her favorite princess and this particular one was my favorite at WDW last week because she got down on Ashlyn’s level and really knew how to relate to little girls.

Anyway, this shot is pitiful at best.  Both girls are so beautiful but I was snapping pics hurriedly as they were ushering kids in and out very quickly.  I put it on night shot to have a flash without totally washing them out (I’m still using my standard flash right now instead of a mounted one… on my list of things to get!).

I shot this with my Rebel XS, edited in Photoshop CS4 and iPhoto.  I used iPhoto for the red-eye reduction (it does really well, IMHO) and then went over to CS4 and cropped it, adjusted exposure with histogram, cooler curves adjustment, turned down saturation then ran Lovely and Ethereal action from Pioneer Woman, did an edge burn, then turned down the saturation again because I still wasn’t happy with it.  I think that’s it.  I’m satisfied with the end result seeing as the beginning picture wasn’t a lot to work with as far as lighting goes…

Here’s the BEFORE…

And here’s the AFTER
