Party Time…

March 3, 2011

Photobucket Well, I’ve seen other bloggers join in on blog parties, but for some reason I’d feel like I would be “crashing” it if I linked up.

I saw a link and a Q&A on Lindsay’s blog to a really cute party linkup, so I decided I would invite my self on over.  In the process, it would be fun to “meet” some other bloggers and see what answers each one comes up with.  If you’re interested in joining the party, head over here!

1. How would people describe your personality? (If they could only use ONE word.) Are they right?

  • I think that would depend on who you ask.  “Sensitive” comes to mind, which can be bad and good.  “Perfectionist”… ouch.

2. What celebrity/celebrities would create a “Star-Struck” feeling if you saw them in real life?

  • Okay, no eye-rolling please.  Any member of ABBA.  Barbra Streisand, Linda Eder, Whitney Houston.

3. Who is your favorite blogger? Why?

  • Well, I must say that Pioneer Woman is quite the blogger.  I like alot of different blogs for different reasons.  Is that vague enough?

4. What is your comfort food/drink?

  • Anything Italian.  Or chocolate.  Drink… if we’re talking comfort, then a mocha frappucino from Starbucks.  With whipped cream.  The real kind, not no-fat.

5. Be brave – tell us something very random and weird about yourself.

  • I love to smell receipts.

6. Do you have a strong desire to do something you’ve never done? What is it?

  • I’m not a risk-taker at all… it takes me a while to step out into new things.  Maybe scuba diving?

7. Movies: Action, Drama, Romantic Comedy, Documentary, Comedy? What are your favorite genres?

  • Romantic comedy or stupid comedy (i.e. the Jerk, Waterboy, Monty Python).  I usually don’t like to entertain myself with something too intense.

8. Books: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Biographies, True Stories, Self-Help, Devotional/Study? What are your favorite types of reading material?

  • Hmmm.  All of the above.   I have many books that I haven’t read all the way through, though.

9. Music: Funk, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Film Score, Blues, Classic Rock, Crooner, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Techno? What are your favorite types?

  • I love music.  I’m always singing something, if not out loud than in my head.  I own anything from the Carpenters to Led Zeppelin to Sandy Patti to Maroon 5 to Rascall Flats.  I like most things except really twangy country and jazz that goes on and on.

10. If you inherited a million dollars, what is the first thing you would do with your money?

  • Donate to the church, then pay off the house, get new cars for both me and the hubs.  Then electrolysis so I’d never have to shave again.  A lawn service so we’d never have to mow again or at least until the money runs out (hmm, those are kind of similar).  A cleaning service at least once a week (that would include laundry service).  Then a trip for us to cruise the Mediterranean Sea.

11. Name one weakness of yours (confession is good for the soul).

  • One?  Being online too much, chocolate, bread, and over-worrying!

12. If you could live anywhere at all (and take all your loved ones with you), where would you go?

  • This place…

St. John.  That’s my island… I went there once and stopped looking for the perfect place on earth.

13. Strange Talent? Can you juggle basketballs, put your legs behind your head or perform some other strange feat?

  • Sing two pitches at once, like a train whistle.

14. What’s something you consider yourself to be good at? (Don’t worry, it’s not bragging, it’s acknowledging a God given gift).

  • I can usually tell if something’s wrong with someone.  Also, mercy.  I hate seeing people being mistreated and want to do something about it.

15. What is one of your favorite things to catch a whiff of?

  • Um, see #5.  But I guess that’s more intentional and not just catching a whiff of it.  Hmm… I catch a whiff of alot of things I don’t want to smell around here.  I love the smell of baking.  Period.

16. When you leave a social gathering, do you wish: You would have talked more or You would have talked less?

  • Usually, talked more.  I’m not always the best at small talk.  But I’m married to a talker, so we’re well balanced!

17. If money wasn’t a factor, what stores would you shop in?

  • I’m not really sure since I’ve usually been pretty frugal for as long as I can remember.  Boring answer, I know.  But I just can’t bring myself to spend too much on things that will be out of style soon or thrown-up on.

18. What is your greatest fear or strange phobia?

  • Snakes.  Snakes, snakes, and 100 times snakes.  I have no compassion for these things whatsoever.  They are the things that cause me nightmares.  Ick.

19. What is your greatest accomplishment?

  • Nathan, Ashlyn, and Joshua.

20. What are your favorite animals?

  • Tigers.  Especially white tigers.  GORGEOUS.  Also, Gibbons.  They’re just so stinkin’ cool.  I just love watching them swing.

21. Are you a hopeless romantic?

  • Always.

Robin, I had no idea about the snakes! I feel the same way. I can’t even watch them on TV. Vence gets a kick out of it sometimes. I had to take Madeline to the library for this event where this guy named Snakehead Ed was going to be there. They talked about it so much that she was asking to go. He had all of these snakes he brought out, and I had to sit there while he walked around the room with them!!! AAHHH!!!! He pulled out this enormous one at the end and I had to get up and go to the back of the room. But, Madeline didn’t pick up on it, and she doesn’t mind looking at them, so that is good.

And, I would describe you as loyal, only because I can only use one word. True Friend is what came to mind.

Smelling receipts? Hilarious! Although, like one of your other commenters, I love the smell of new books.

The picture of St. John looks heavenly. I think my heart actually skipped a beat when I fantasized about going there!

Hi Robin…I’m wandering around to the posts on Lynnette’s blog party {she’s my sister} and I HAD to stop and checkout your blog because of it’s name. When my daughter was little we finally had to outlaw playdough…because she never “made” anything with it – except for teeny tiny little balls, most of which would fall to the floor and get ground into the carpet. I guess her medium was cardboard. She would swip paper towel and toilet paper tubes and turn them into swords and all kinds of other things! Pioneer Woman amazes me at her blogging output, but I guess it is very much her business now and helps support her family. Good incentive for being productive 🙂 Have fun visiting the bloggers!! Lisa

Nice to meet you. I love the title of your blog-it made me really glad I don’t have carpet. I see you have three little ones as do I and we had some other things in common, likestarting books, but not finishing them.
